Charles Wilkerson

little boy blue design, inc is the design experience of Charles Wilkerson III. Charles, after studying the basics of patternmaking & design in Miami, met and worked with Maria Contessa of Contessa Studios and Zoo14 clothing boutique in South Beach. Charles has worked with Maria throughout the 1990s during SoBe’s “heyday” of clubbing and circuit events. His fashionable, handmade swimwear became in-demand and sought after— as everyone strived to be unique and distinctive in a sea of generic, massed-produced items.

The South Beach ambience demanded diversity for club openings, circuit parties, and other special events — original, creative designs that were alternately sexy, “hot,” masculine, or outrageous. Charles displayed extraordinary range, creating and producing custom-made tees, jeans, shirts, vests, and more for the uncommon, sophisticated individual.

His latest collection, label little boy blue, is currently found in Zoo 14’s new location in Fort Lauderdale. Clients from all over the world regularly come to the store to see his latest designs.
